Your immune system cannot function without glutathione
Glutathione, also referred to as GSH or glutathione-sulfhydryl, is a tripeptide antioxidant. This means that it is an antioxidant made up of 3 amino acids namely, glutamine, glycine and cysteine. But it is not just ‘another’ antioxidant; but the most powerful endogenous antioxidant in your body. It is present in almost all your body cells and without it, your body will not be able to perform many bodily processes.
As you can see, glutathione has a lot to do with the various processes in your body. To make it easier to understand what it does, all these important functions are grouped into 3 categories and I will address each of the three categories. Let us start with its function as an antioxidant.
Things known as free radicals are bad news for your body. These are oxidized molecules that end up stealing molecules from healthy cells in order to become stable. In the course of doing that, they bring about a process known as oxidative stress, which causes a lot of damage to healthy cells and brings about disease and aging.
Free radicals break down cells and this makes them unstable. As such, the cells are forced to look for other atoms or molecules in their effort to become stable. This cycle goes on and on. Let’s take the example of the OH molecule:
The water molecule (H-H-O) loses its hydrogen and becomes the OH molecule. OH is not only the most plentiful free radical in your body but also the most dangerous.
The oxidized OH molecule steals hydrogen from a cell near it, and in the process, it damages that cell.
The damaged cell steals a molecule from the next cell, and so on and so forth.
As you can see, free radicals are capable of causing a lot of damage if they are left to run free in your body. They are continuously stealing molecules from healthy cells and this puts your body at risk. To stop the destructive cycle of free radicals, you need antioxidants.
Antioxidants do the vital job of neutralizing free radicals by donating electrons for them to bond with. As a free radical, one function of glutathione is to give hydrogen to free radicals and this turns OH back to H-H-O (water). But there is something glutathione does that has many people labeling it as the ‘mother of all antioxidants,’ ‘miracle antioxidant’, or ‘master antioxidant.’ Glutathione continuously regenerates the hydrogen molecule at a cellular level.
As such, glutathione not only neutralizes free radicals but also recycles other antioxidants. Thus, if you have an antioxidant such as Vitamin C, that antioxidant can work to neutralize a free radical, and once it has given up its molecule, glutathione donates another molecule to it and the Vitamin C can then head back into the battlefield as it were and continue the fight against disease. This keeps your body healthy and helps fight against inflammation.
Glutathione is heralded as a breakthrough in cell defense due to its immune-boosting capabilities. It does this function well since it is a high caliber antioxidant that not only neutralizes free radicals but also recycles other antioxidants. Remember, antioxidants are your defense against oxidative stress and the damage it brings in terms of disease and aging. This helps your immune system fight infections.
But glutathione does more than that.
Its presence in your lymphoid cells allows your immune system to work at its best. How so? Well, your immune system’s health depends on the presence of T cells. T cells, which are types of white blood cells, are the ones that determine how your body responds to foreign substances or antigens. If you have an infection, the T cell binds to the infected cell and kills it.
Here’s the thing.
T cells can only be cloned sufficiently when there are large quantities of glutathione in your body. Glutathione does the vital job of regulating T-cell proliferation, degradation, internalization and binding. It effectively increases the number of cellular binding receptors leading to more T cell production. This boosts your immune system and keeps it ready to fight against disease.
Thus, by its antioxidant and immune-enhancing function, glutathione proves itself to be a vital antioxidant, ready to heal and protect the body. But its importance does not stop there. It also plays the function of a detoxifier. And this function, like the other two, is also vital to relieving pain and guarding your body against disease.
The use of glutathione supplementation fights all kind of diseases from respiratory to auto immune to degenerative diseases.
Without question, the best type of preventive medicine is an optimized immune system, and a critical means to optimize it is by feeding it glutathione.
This is not the same glutathione that you see at the health food store. This is glutathione precursor. It’s very different because glutathione must be made inside your cells and the precursor is the food your cells require to make its own glutathione as nature intended. That is the most natural and effective approach to boost your immune system.
It’s all natural with NO side effect.
